Natural Resources and Harbormaster Articles submitted to the 2012 Town Meeting Warrant

 


ADD TO DREDGING RESERVE FUND TO DREDGE VARIOUS ENTRANCE CHANNELS
To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money ($125,000) to dredge various harbors and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

Waterway needs to be made available, navigable and safer with maintenance dredging as routine.

Spoil (the sand that is removed from the channel) becomes useful as beach restoration material making this an attractive alternative.

County dredge at a cost this year of $7/cu.yd. ($11 booster) makes this an affordable possibility.

 

REPLACE BOAT RAMP ROUND COVE

To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to raze and replace the boat ramp at Round Cove and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

 

REPLACE COMFORT STATION WYCHMERE

To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to replace the comfort Station at Wychmere Harbor Town Landing and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

This is one of two 1960 period comfort stations that need replacement.

 

ALLEN HARBOR FLOAT AND PILING REPLACEMENT

To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to replace the Allen Harbor floating dock marina and associated pilings, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

Estimate $60,000

This float system is now the oldest of our floating docks in our marina system and needs total replacement.
